Wedding DIY

Want to boogie on a budget? Look no further.

Below you will find the playlists I have used to successfully DJ over a dozen weddings… using only Spotify. These playlists are designed to fit the mood of the various stages of an informal wedding, from cocktail and dinner hour, to dance parties and singalongs for all ages. Of course, there are some “staples” that you don’t want coming on at just ANY point in the night either, so you will find those below.

Pro tip #1: Use the “queue” feature in Spotify to keep an eye on what songs are coming up next, and plug your phone or tablet into a speaker while still being able to manipulate the music from another device. The DJ doesnt need to be chained to the booth

Pro tip #2: When there is a band (or a real DJ) at a wedding, they usually serve as the center of attention for those on the dance floor. In lieu of that, if you are using these playlists, buy a bunch of inflatable musical instruments and leave them up by the dance floor…. I PROMISE you there will be adults wandering around with pink saxophones around their necks by the end of the night, having the time of their lives.

These “Shabby” playlists are named in honor of my sister Abby, and her husband Sean who graciously had be Emcee and DJ their most epic wedding in 2016.
